    Fig. 2 is a simplified flow diagram of steel production using BF/BOF, EAF, and direct reduction. The following subsections describe the main production steps. Since the focus of this paper is ironmaking, in this section we only briefly describe three ironmaking processes, i.e. the BF, direct reduction, and smelting reduction processes. Fig. 2.
