The school was founded at Worcester in 1963 with only one pupil. In 1985 the school relocated to Kuils River and presently accommodates 420 learners. The school was founded by the then Dutch Reformed Mission Church (now called the Uniting Reformed Church) who identified the need for such a school in our community. Bet-el School is eternally grateful to the church that through their guidance we were able to grow to where we are today. Since 1999 the school is being administered by the Western Cape Education Department.
Special teaching programmes are in place to empower learners who suffer from epilepsy and those who experience other barriers to learning to access the labour market after completion of such programmes. At primary school level much emphasis is placed on remedial teaching. In the senior classes learners are taught technical skills which will enable them to lead dignified and independent lives as adults. With sustained loyalty and dedication the staff strives to serve the best interest of all our learners.
The school endeavours to develop into a full-fletched resource centre as set out in White Paper 6 of the constitution. In addition to this, we would also strive to extend and upgrade the existing skills curriculum at the school
The school community of Bet-el School is committed to establish a learning environment conducive to effective teaching and learning at the school.
